Awww poor thing! Sounds like she had it rough before she came to you. :( so she just like charges then backs off? Maybe charges again if you don’t get it the first time? That’s good at least. Sounds like she doesn’t really want to hurt anyone but will if whatever it is doesn’t back off. Seems DB didn’t back off and she had to charge?

Exactly. She was beaten when she was a piglet and was confiscated by the police. The humane society called me when she came in. She was only 6 months old and already terrified of people. She’s 18 months old now.

@Shadrach, Fabio thoroughly enjoyed his grooming session last night. He was nervous at first but quickly got with the program. He just stood there with his eyes closed.
I have another camera video clip of him surrounded by the chicks in the coop. Several of them pecking at his feathers. He is the kindest to them of all the flock.

Awww poor thing. :( seems like she has a much better life now though!!

Although out of curiosity, is it possible to at least get her used to your family? So she doesn’t charge them? Probably easier to just have them not go in there without you though but seems like she could also possibly benefit from learning not to be so scared of everyone. Although maybe she is also just a little territorial too? Is she okay if she’s outside of her pen?

Nice looking flock. Good tail feathering on the front rooster.:)

Thank you! I’ve got the other rooster separated right now in a private coop/run since he spurs and my hens are getting bald on their backs. I needed 2 more hens per rooster and originally had that but some have fallen prey to neighboring dogs until I caught them and turned them into the humane society. They were stays that someone probably dropped off. I was going to butcher the rooster but I have been convinced to sell him and I said if he isn’t gone in a week he will be dinner.

It's amazing isn't it. I got told this by one of the chicken club here many years ago before I started the club. It worked like a charm. It makes inspecting them for problems really easy in daylight.

Thank you for turning them into the humane society instead of just shooting them.

She gets scared. She backs away until she can’t anymore and she charges. She isn’t but 2 1/2ft tall but she weighs about 180lbs. She can do damage but I don’t think she would kill. After she charged him she just wandered. She ran up to me when I got out of my truck happy and tail wagging. She will let anyone pet her through the fence but doesn’t like others in her pen.

I had a mr piggy not abused who would do that when our Rottweiler would try to herd him. We had his tusks removed after he brushed my leg and gave me a 5" long gash just below the knee. Not being mean but impatient about food.
