My feeling atm is this attempt at managing a double sit was a bad idea.
The eggs are getting disturbed unnecessarily, poor Tackle is rather left out.
There are further problems regarding ensuring both mums eat properly. Ruffles naturally wants her chick to eat and tries to prevent Tackle from eating. Maybe Tackle will abandon the whole business and try again.
I won't be doing this again.
Anyway, what's done is done. Nobody has got hurt physically and so far there is one chick who will have an easier time integrating into the flock with Ruffles as mum than chicks do when the mum is a junior hen.

Shad, congrats on the little one and thanks for sharing a picture!

Meg, pretty pictures! What type of trees do you have planted in the first picture?

Cap, what sort of eggs are you hatching?

I am waiting on CCL and Tolbunt polish eggs. I don't hear anything, afraid it's a total loss. Had a bunch of blanks from the new bantam cochins and some early quitters. Maybe I didn't turn them enough?
The other Brinsea has quail eggs in it.

Thanks, Debby! The new ones are apples and plums, to the right of the gate are apples and to the left are Evans cherries. Before winter, we should be rid of that big ugly cooler by the barn :p

I thought they looked like fruit trees but wasn't sure. You'll have some lovely fruit in time!

Sorry Cap, that's disappointing. Are you going to try again?
