BYC Café

I thought they looked like fruit trees but wasn't sure. You'll have some lovely fruit in time!
Yes! Very exciting. We just filled up the "orchard" this year (we think, anyway). We've got a total of 20 fruit bearing trees now (or soon to be :) ) Had loads of apples last year, but I think the cooler weather this spring put a hurting on the pollination rate. Maybe the trees needed a break. :idunno

Been picking plums this morning. Smaller than shop bought but really tasty.

Awe, that sounds lovely. We had a couple plum trees when I was a kid but the aphids and birds were murderous on them. I think I ate one plum off the tree as a kid.

Do you can your fruit? I did a bit of that when we had a little place in north FL, but only did vegetables. You could have some really tasty fruity things canned!

I haven't yet! I bought the Ball Big Book of Canning (something like that) last fall, so I'll be trying my hand at it this year. I try to make chokecherry syrup every year, though. Love that stuff :) Looks like we'll have a bumper crop if the birds don't get after them too hard!

Late to the Café, but not to coffee. Had an early start today, and now I must mow lawn. Have some of the coffee that I just brewed. :caf

Congrats Sour, I bet if you could get to all trials and handle him yourself, he would be winning consistently. :yesss:

He's won 3 out of 14 trials, and according to the handler should have won a fourth, but you know how handlers are. Although he's a young dog, he's pretty impervious to 'handler error'.

@Shadrach , what you are experiencing is pretty much what I have experienced with multiple hens sharing a nest. It seems to work for some, but for me it always resulted in low % hatches.
