I know Scotland is part of the UK, but dang it man, you're Scottish! (I am partially, from the MacDonald clan in Ayr.)

I KNEW we were related woman...I believe we even have the same mother.

Congratulations Meg on your anniversary! Hope you're doing something fun to celebrate.

The dementia stuff doesn’t bother me, but I know it’s really hard to deal with. I kid you not, this is me & my folks in a restaurant when my dad was still alive;

Dad “What are you gonna get Char?”
Me “I think I’ll get the patty melt”
Dad “Oh! What’s on that?”
Me “It’s like a burger on rye bread with cheese & grilled onions.”
Dad “Oh. Ok.... What are you gonna get Char?”
me: “I’m thinking about a patty melt.”
Dad “Oh! What’s on that?”
Me “It’s a burger on rye bread with cheese & grilled onions.”
Dad “Hmmmm... What are you gonna get Char?”
Me: I don’t know. Maybe a patty melt.
Dad “Oh! What’s on that?”
Me “It’s like a burger on rye bread with cheese & grilled onions.”
Dad “That sounds good.... Char, what are you gonna get?”
Mom “SHES TOLD YOU 50x ALREADY!!!”
Me (giving my mother the look of death) I’m thinking about having a patty melt.
Dad “What’s on that?”
:lau:gig

It’s my MILs dementia I worry about. She’s still physically active & she’s gonna be one of those people who go out for a walk & get lost. It scares me to death.

I would give my left arm to talk to my ma right about now. It's coming up on two months since she's passed. I know everyone's situations are different, but regret sure is a killer. I wish you much luck with your ma, IM and Roomy.

My husband and I are celebrating 8 yrs today. Had a hell of a thunderstorm come through and he was headed for the hills to check on our cows. Lightning strike has started a whopper not far from where we pasture them. Hopefully, not in the middle of it. Also hoping when I get off work that we can grab a beer and our 3 girls and head for the pond for a swim.

I've heard of three fires started so far from this storm, which happened about two hours ago. Another (human caused) fire was started last Friday and is now at 4600 acres and 0% contained. Tis the season :barnie

Hugs Meg!!! :hugs:hugs:hugs

That would take a LOT of patience to deal with. Especially every day.

Agreed. My sister handled it very well, but my mother & DH’s sister have been mean about it.

When my MIL is here we have to watch her because she wants to go on an adventure thru my neighbors yard. Every 15 mins she’ll say, “I just know if we walk up that path we’ll be able to walk & walk forever.” My kids say, “no grandma it’s just the neighbors yard.” She’ll say, “Oh? I’m sure we can just walk forever & ever.”

My mom went out from the nursing home one day to walk the dog and didn't come back. Luckily she had not wandered too far.

This is what scares me!:barnie
Yes, when I was taking care of my Aunt in TN, I told her I would be back in 10 minutes, as soon as I collected eggs. I came back to the door wide open, dogs running all over the yard, Aunt outside in the cold ( no shoes or jacket) talking to the mailman. I told my parents to come get her, I just couldn't do it any more. She needed a lock down facility.
