I wish I had more!Good morning Sean. Wish I had some grow out pens like yours!
The last few weeks have been normal for us 98° days, 78 to 80° nights.
The problem with the electrical grid is it's out dated...they haven't tried to update or improve it since implementing back in the 20's and 30's.
The power grid is old and only patched up as needed. They don't even have replacement transformers made here, they have to import them.
Very true. It's all about money...the guy who runs our power company is being grilled because people have died after the company turned off their power during the summer here. Yet the company spent MILLIONS in contributions to political candidates and the guy gets a huge bonus of course.
Yup, I would say so.@Shadrach since you're the rooster guy here I have a question for you.
My rooster is young, not yet 6 months, and rather controlling, but only when I'm around. A pullet was out of the coop in a shaded area and all was fine until I went outside. Once I was out there he pecked her and made her go with him and away from me with the rest of the pullets.
He sees me as competition doesn't he? I always have this issue with roos raised as brood mates but not when the roos have to grow up with older girls and climb the ranks. I find it interesting.
He came after me a couple of times. Once when I put myself between him and the pullets without a thought, and again in the coop when I tested it on purpose.
Naturally.Very true. It's all about money...the guy who runs our power company is being grilled because people have died after the company turned off their power during the summer here. Yet the company spent MILLIONS in contributions to political candidates and the guy gets a huge bonus of course.
Yup, I would say so.
There was a post here a while ago where the OP was complaining that the rooster herded the hens way from the person when they came to feed the flock. I suggested for the short term at least they either gave the food to the rooster and let him call the hens or just place the food on the floor and back off.
I don't think they were impressed with the answer because I got 'I've always fed and cuddled my hens.![]()
