Well the routine Dr appointment for DH turned into his needing surgery.
Last year when I first installed the electronetted pen, I set treated corner posts. DH helped a little with the digging but had to stop because his lower right abdomen hurt. He had a CT scan the following week and nothing abnormal was seen.
Last weekend, I was shoveling out gravel to prep for the new walkways. DH decided to come out and help for about an hour. Next day, same effect as last year. This was brought up at the Dr. appointment. He was told to drop his drawers and the Dr. immediately saw the bulge from the hernia.
So DH is on chair warming duty and I now have 1360 pounds of crusher run to unload from the truck and that is just one of at least 5 loads that need to be brought in. Looks like I will also be on fuel wood hauling duty this winter.
The general surgeon is supposed to contact me ASAP to schedule an appointment to see him but we all know how that goes. He likely won't be seen for 6 weeks and it will be another month or two before the surgery.
Oh dear, when it rains it pours. What's the recovery time for something like that?

Seems you two have a long row to hoe. Best wishes to both of you.

Can you get some help for the practical stuff DL?

Inguinal hernia ? I've had both sides done, and recovery was uneventful. The most difficult part was not overdoing because I felt so good. There are weight lifting restrictions and driving restrictions, but I drove within a week. Not certain about the weight limits and duration of lifting restrictions.

That's about par for the course Dobie. You don't need another thing on your plate, I hope it doesn't take forever.

That's good to know. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully, DL's hubby has an uneventful recovery as well.

Well, the "kid" next door is supposed to install the stone retaining walls along the edge of one walkway and around the back of the garage. So I want to get the walkways in. Honestly the really hard part is nearly done. That's the digging out.
I know I have to move about 4 tons of base and stone but it really isn't that hard. Just one wheelbarrow full at a time, rake it out and compact it. The neighbor is letting be borrow his rolling vibrating compacter.

:barnie There was a big old fly in my first cup.

Good morning, Café, and thanks Shad - @Shadrach you left 'provide companionship' off of your list. @DobieLover your to do list makes me tired.
They do, but I tend not to think of it because unlike having a dog, or cat for example, I've got whole tribes. My affection, if that's what it is changes from chicken to chicken, day to day, depending on who's most in need.
My strongest connection is with Fat Bird now probably but that's because she's been here all the time I have..........she's lovely as well, but time makes a big difference.
