Get that bug cleared up while its dry. Damp and cold isn't going to help.

I had Ramon from the chicken club up here for a couple of hours today. We're working on night cages for hens that sit outside.
It's not as straightforward as I thought if it's to be secure.
At the moment Ramon uses a battery powered electric fence with drive in stakes. It's a fence rather than a wire with the first live about 4 inches above the ground. For the fence not to short to much a circle around the nest has to be reasonably clear. If the hot wire was higher it wouldn't get touched by some of the digging predators.
Bear in mind these enclosures are for very rough ground.
Ramon was complaining that he has to be up at the crack of dawn to switch the fence off and make an opening so the hen can go foraging etc. He's got four sitting on outside nests.:th

We never get Fall color in San Diego. There are a few tress that grow bright pink flowers on them. My kids & I call them California Fall trees. I always saw pictures of Fall colors but I never really had an 'oh wow' moment until I moved to Washington state. Now every year I feel totally ripped off cause I know what I'm missing. :hmm
We can see Fall Color if we go up into Southern Oregon

It is good that you are feeling Better!

@N F C - I did a double-take when I saw your latest avatar. I would swear I did a jigsaw puzzle made from that very picture of an eagle just a few weeks ago.

Hi Bunny! The bald eagle in my avatar is a photo my son took while we were on vacation last week. Such a handsome, regal looking guy!

Well, I can handle the snow a lot better than I handle the bitter cold. A lot of times here they go hand in hand. I keep forgetting it isn't actually winter! Snow is still hanging around. 25 degrees in the A.M. is not helping that situation!

This chest cold is sure hanging on. I sound like I've got a kazoo in my lungs :tongue

Hope everyone has a lovely Wednesday!

Sorry to hear you have the crud Meg. I've got a lingering case of something similar (hate that whistling sound when I'm trying to fall asleep). Hope you're over it soon!
