Maybe Lily is the sort of seasoned performer that only puts forth real effort when it counts?:idunno

Good girl, Lily!

Such dogs do exist - they perform best in competitions . With a week of concentrated training and favorable (for her) circumstances today she responded. Next trial will most likely be about ten days away from now.

Hello, Pond - brewed a fresh pot - coffee at the field trial was not so very good.

Well, a bit of luck happened, or perhaps she is better than I thought. Lily was the first hound in the first brace. They tallyho'd a rabbit into the thickest spot on the club. So thick that her bracemate gave up and quit. She fought her way through and put on a performance. Back high she got a good rabbit in second series and once again performed to win the class. Well done Lily.
Good job both of you.:)

Pond?

Congratulations to you and Lily! She sounds like a tenacious girl.

Autumn, it's a big sigh of relief here.:D
The hens have stopped laying and that means no more nest hunts for a while.:celebrate
It also means their safety improves because they don't tend to leave the tribe.
It also means less conflict be it over nest sites, fewer bored roosters trying to boss someone else hen about, easier feeding because I don't have to wait for laying, or sitting hens to appear.
I've had broodies all spring and summer and I've had enough of sorting them out for one year.:ya
