Well, I don't. Our 1st neighbours have a beautifully trained cattle dog & he & I get on great. The other lot breed small bitey yappers. Not a fan. Why bad genetics are getting passed on I do not understand; & I can't walk for the number of loose, nasty pit bulls roaming about. Not a dog to leave untrained. Been bailed up once too often for my liking & when they start hunting me... just no.
We have problems with untrained dogs here.:(
Fortunately we have the house dogs here that help alert and deter stray dogs but I've had some of these strays go for the chickens, or ducks, in the past and in some ways worse, get in with the sheep. :he

Meg might have the answer Shad...hairless cats are as ugly as sin (IMO) but if they catch mice, who cares!

Sphynx cats are the stuff of nightmares. They are hideous! Why would man create such a creature?

I'm just not a cat fan. Everywhere I've lived where there has been a cat there have been flea problems, ripped up clothing, cat shit on the paths which smells awful to me, worse than broody shit. Despite all that washing I just haven't found them to be clean and likable creatures.
I've never caught a flea from a chicken and they don't even knock much over let alone shred everything in sight.:p

And puke on the counter. Don't forget puke on the counter.

Oh wow that is awful!! I can see why you would hate them then! That is terrifying!! Thankfully we don’t really have a problem with loose dogs here but I know some areas definitely do.

We get the occasional loose dog roaming through our property but they usually pass through and go home quickly.

There’s been more lately since we put Gator down in December. But still not very many.

Our property is set back in the woods and connects to other woods and we have lots of wildlife so I think that’s why. They come tracking some animal through the woods or get off their property and wind up on ours. We have close neighbors in the back so sometimes they just cut through or get loose on a walk, etc. but they’re not usually aggressive and the owners usually come get them quickly. I’ve never experienced a loose one on a walk.

Except once in my brothers neighborhood when walking their dog there was this loose older Golden but he was really friendly and followed me back to DB’s house where I kept him until his owner’s could come get him a couple hours later.

Probably shouldn’t have brought a strange dog into the house and yard but I know dogs pretty well and it was obvious he wasn’t mean at all and seemed to get on with DB’s dog on the walk back. DB’s dog was of course very excited to have a playmate LOL though he mostly ignored her. :lau

Anyway, sorry, rambling yet again. :hide I have heard horror stories of dogs mauling people or ganging up, roaming around in packs, etc. and the packs hunting and killing or seriously injuring people! Even kids. It’s awful. We thankfully do not have that problem here but it’s definitely scary so I know what you mean.

I think if we had a problem with loose dogs I would carry a big stick with me or an air horn or pepper spray!

That's funny. We definitely have our own things! Dogs are my first true love in this world :)

I cannot imagine me NOT having a dog.
Rihb lists some of their better qualities as negatives.

And who doesn't enjoy seeing their long pointy nosed dog cram his face in the crotch of total strangers to try to get his halter off? Surely I'm not the only one!

Oh wow that sounds awful!! I’m so glad we don't have loose dogs here!! Although he have had a lot more roll through since Gator died. We never used to have any and we’ve had like 3 this year at least. Plus more foxes.

X2!!!

Ewwww!! Luna never did that thankfully but she has puked other places. But she’s tiny so it’s not really messy or a big deal. Gator puke was nasty. :sick

He was huge so it was basically human size. :lau:sick
