A graphical representation of the end of my career as a precious metal surface finishes manufacturing engineer. The line is completely emptied out. Time to move on...

I just watched my eggs for an hour until 1 moved!!!! I'm probably pathetic too, we can be pathetic together :highfive:

Welcome to the Cafe

Sci-fi, comedy, suspense. We're leaning towards Malificient.

that is the one I have wanted see thought we were Son took us to Adams Family awful :hit

The company knows. And they won't spend money doing anything about it. They have to save the budget for important things like a company jet and monogrammed clothing and paid R&R for the big shots. And no, I'm not joking.
I believe you.
That was part of what bankrupted EIT, the company that we were before i3.

You may remember me writing about one of Mel's chicks that went up a tree which I had to get down later that night. Here it is thinking about doing it again. It's an easy jump from there to the tree directly behind but all those who have climbed trees in this area move to the laft hand tree in the picture and climb to a particular branch formation.

The males of Tribe 2 are finally getting their act together. They've been with or close to the hens and chicks all day and Mag, the lighter coloured of the two roosters was digging for one of the chicks just before I took this photograph.

We had a peregrine falcon visit this afternoon. I saw it arrive as it flew down from the ridge. It perched in one of the trees shown in the first photograph. I believe it had spotted Mel's chicks. Mel sent the chicks to cover and stood in the middle of the path between her chicks and the falcon. The falcon dropped out of the tree and perched on the top rail of the fence. Mel went for it.:thBetween me hurrying towards Mel and Mel's attack the falcon we drove the falcon off. It is very unlikely a falcon here will take on an adult chicken and definitely not a battle ready mum.
I got my camera. The falcon flew into the trees on the ridge opposite the house. I couldn't see it.
The chickens gathered for supper. Mel with her chicks were the first arrivals. Here she is looking very watchful with her eye on the ridge.

Ruffles and her daughter arrived. I wasn't quite quick enough with the camera. The falcon flew out of the trees and up the valley. You can see both Mel and Ruffles spotted the falcon, interestingly so had Ruffles's daughter (other gray hen). The chicks did stop absolutely still for a couple of seconds waiting for either the all clear call or run for cover call, from Mel.

As I mentioned earlier, Tribe 1 was gathering for supper. This is the main man Cillin with the tribes boss, Fat Bird. He's seen the Falcon as well. He's not going to win any bravery awards is Cillin,

maybe he's just smart. Fat Bird is 9 years old for a reason.:)

Finally got a half decent picture of the pro tree huggers. Yep, they've got the kids up there with them. Nope, they did not want to come down tonight. They to saw the falcon.
What didn't help was because of the drama with Tribe 1 and the falcon the whole tribe was late to roost. It was getting on the edge of no flight lighting when I got to Tribe 2.
I had to 'encourage' both chicks out of the tree.:rant

I guess I must be depressed. I have zero motivation to go to work. I'll have the line gutted today and will have no more reason to stay in Endicott. The finality of the company closure and this chapter in my life coming to a close is harder than I expected it to be.
On a positive note, the fire blazing in my stove sure is cozy.
Do you have some saved up vacation time?

Nice pictures!

Mornin', y'all!:frow

Sorry to hear about the cold, Sour. BB2K had one a couple of weeks ago, but managed to keep it to herself.

Been surprisingly busy making my little yarn chickens and such. The hardware store where I sold some last year called, and said they were already getting inquiries, so I took some over. And they've already been selling!

New this year, turkeys

And sheep

The sheep are BB2K's contribution. She did the original as a plushy, which she wound up giving to my mom when she was in the hospital. Mom and the sheep were inseparable for weeks; she held it by the hour, and even did hand/arm exercises by squeezing it.
Nice!

It's weird how a job can get under your skin and become a part of you Dobie. When it came time for me to leave my 33 year job at a health insurance company, I cried. Even when I was doing the crying, I felt dumb about it. But jobs become part of our lives and the people we spend so much time with become our friends (or sometimes fren-emies).

Leaving one part of our lives behind, even if we're excited about making a change, is hard.

But people do it and once the strangeness wears off, everything is ok. People are more adaptable then they often realize.
There is a beginning and an ending to all things. I am looking forward to retiring but know it will not be that easy. I have time though-- likely 6 years to go!
