BYC Café

I just can't help laughing at this lot.

Apparently the armchair wins out over this. Who said chickens are stupid.:D

Fudge, Mel and tackle all kicked off together an hour or so before roost time. One second it was fine, the next, there were three hens in the air clawing and pecking.
I don't know what it was about, but given where everybody was at the time it seems possible that Fudge might have pecked one of Mel's chicks (the three in the picture above. Hardly defenseless babies)
Even if I had had my camera, it was over too quickly.

Morning and thanks for the coffee. Sorry you didn't get the dog, DL.
I hope everyone has a great day! I am big on family time, not gifts in general. One year we gave gift certs to a tire place to a couple of our kids that were short on cash for them though.
Well, I guess it is time to get stuff done. I retrieved our car from the repair place so it is good to go for a bit. Enjoy!

I agree. My husbands family is religious, mine is not. We do not practice, as far as going to church, and we tend to have to agree to disagree on many religious beliefs. But that's okay, too :)

I like Christmas, decorations, gift giving/getting and the family time. It's just that sometimes it's all a bit much. We started our own family tradition of the "12 days of Christmas". We'd start opening gifts (whenever we decided we wanted to) by playing board/card/dice games with the boys and whoever won got to open. It's pretty fun!
Sounds like a good way to make things last. When I was a kid I was quite shocked to learn that for many of the children I knew, Christmas was a pillowcase with presents at the end of the bed when they woke and essentially that was Christmas over. Some didn't even eat with the adult family.

Huh, that's interesting. Seems a bit sad, but I guess everyone does things differently.

We didn't have big holiday gatherings when I was a kid. It was always the four of us: Dad, Ma, brother and me. We always had a nice (real) tree and we'd open everything on Christmas eve. Santa's present awaited us under the tree Christmas day. Always had all the fixin's for dinner, as well. We never knew we didn't have any money, for certain. After my parents got divorced, we did the big gatherings with Ma's family. Dad basically doesn't "do" the holidays.

Not Christian - Hanukkah is NOT a big production. My sister and her adult daughter live far away, so does my son(for his work). My other niece doesn't live very far but has very little to do with us (brother & I). Her husband is Christian and family has big money (also 3 gen.of alcoholic men) on his side so she converted. The two kids didn't care for it so they are whatever they wanted to be.
