A few quick showers this morning, then the forecast is for mostly sunny, breezy, high mid-70's (20's C). Tonight we go down around freezing, then back to our regularly scheduled season. Ah, well, it's been nice while it lasted.

Which is why we are now seeing the Cafe over capacity. It's a fire hazard!



Are you going to need to find homes for any of the new chicks or do you have room for them?

Barking Brackets chicks are not likely to survive. She's an awful mother. She has lapses in memory and forgets she has chicks and if she remembers she has, she can't remember where she put them. For those that survive there is room in the tribe coop.
Knock hatched two males last time; we ate them both at Christmas. She's hatched 3 this time. If it's two females and male we're good. If it's the other way around....

Good morning, Cafe. One more day of work and then it's back to dad's house to keep working on that.
Winter is blowing back in today. We've already got the wind and the temps are dropping throughout the day. It's expected to dip down to 11F tonight with a high of 19F tomorrow... now that's more like it!

California weather is weird! We had fog, no wind and near freezing temps while lake Tahoe, not far from her, had blizzard conditions an 137mph winds!

Here's Barking Bracket with her chicks. I don't know how the fourth got over the nest box ledge and underneath her. I want her out so I can clean up. She's broody pooped the nest box she hatched in and just moved next door.

This what Bracket moved out of. Two eggs were dummies and the partially hatched egg didn't make it.

This is Knock with her three. I'm going to take the front off the nest box so it's easier for the chicks to go in and out. When I looked earlier, Knock was at the coop door caling for the chicks to follow and the chicks were all lined up against the back wall of the nest box going 'no way are we leaving'.

The house nest box has been busy. Two laying in it atm and two others getting ready to follow.

Morning Cafe! Looks like time for a fresh pot of coffee, help yourself.

Shad, how many new chicks do you have in total now? Hope all are doing ok.

Woke up to 5* this morning, chilly! But for the first time in ages we're supposed to get into the upper 30's so that's going to seem nice.

I suppose it is funny, I've just lost a bit of humor over what happened yesterday. The emoji is in the list and the very most innocent thing you can do with it is show someone where it is, but some little girl is running around here with her mouse over the "report" button just waiting to get someone in trouble to get some attention. That is what I don't understand.

Honestly, how do you use that and not cause an issue? Like we're trying to "weed" out the problem child's with it. Ridiculous.

I'm sorry, Kelsey. My little rant has nothing to do with you. I hope you don't take it that way.

What are you two talking about? I don't see a middle finger feature on BYC. I wouldn't like that either. In fact, I don't like the little angry face they added to the reaction buttons.

Good morning everyone! Thanks for all the coffee! It's going to get up to 40 today, and possibly rain, then snow tonight and rain again tomorrow. Who said "mud season"? It's always mud season in the rain forests of Washington.
