Dogs and dewclaws - I have never had a problem with front dewclaws so I do not remove them. Hind dewclaws I remove at 3 days old as they can present a problem for hunting dogs by getting caught in brush and ripping.

Have at the fresh pot that I just brewed.
Thanks for the fresh pot, Sour.
Is it snowing in your neck of the woods? It just let up here but is expected to start in again today. Not much. Maybe 3" total.

So, I went to watch the mum and chicks progress.

Treacle may have a hen! I have mentioned before that it's the hens that decide which rooster they will pair up with. Treacle has been on escort duties for months now and while the hens like him being there, after egg laying there has only been one that will turn the escort call off and that's Cillin.
Treacle has been collecting Hurry since she's been laying eggs. I didn't see yesterdays escort response but today Hurry called and Treacle was here very quickly. Not only did Hurry stop calling, she also crouched for Treacle and, as the picture shows, hung around to eat while Treacle looked on.

This is all Tribe 1 currently. There are two roosters and a cockerel. Cillin cannot manage to keep an eye on all the hens and keep Treacle and Tyle away.

Yeah, the rear ones I don’t think are attached to anything and can usually be pretty floppy and useless. The front ones are usually attached pretty well and I’ve seen them use them a lot. Of course, tons of dogs do tear them but dogs tear other toe nails too.
