No, but I've seen a very mad hen 😂 My polish got attacked by a hawk and I wanted to check her for injuries. She tore my hand up, but I didn't let go until I knew she was okay.

None of my chickens have gone broody yet but when they do I won't need my incubator anymore 😁
You can't count on broodies!

Have you never seen a broody hen before?
I have had several broodies, but I’ve only ever let one set so far. Luckily for me, she rather enjoyed my interaction with her during this time (especially during the three week set); however, I never got as close to the broody chicks as I have any of my bator chicks or purchased chicks.

Out of all my layers only one objects to me reaching in underneath her to retrieve eggs and she does not back down. She is hell on two dinosaur feet. When I see her, I just skip that nest til later.
I have a small cut on my hand because of it. It's part of chicken keeping.
I don’t think I’ve gone more than a few days without some kind of “chicken wound.” Simply picking them up affords me the opportunity for yet another bloody scratch on my old rotten-skinned hands and forearms. But I wear all my scars with the utmost dignity. :lau

Why lock her away?? Keep her in a ground nest inside the coop. It can be sectioned off to keep other hens from laying in the nest. I kept Barb in the built-in brooder in my coop and took her off the nest at feeding times (twice daily). I opened the door to the brooder on day 2 after the chicks hatched and she did the rest.

The kids met dad on day three. He is awesome with the youngsters.

No pullet dared get within 7 feet of those chicks without getting run off by Barb. She was ruthless. Interestingly, she allowed one of the hens to peck a chick. It was a curiosity peck and didn't harm it. She also let her BFF, Astrid, my very broody BA, in to see the chicks first.

I will allow Astrid to hatch some eggs this year if she goes broody again.

Poor Astrid has just started her molt. It looks to be a severe one like Draco had. I have two more that haven't started molting yet.
Nice!

Be careful of the cat getting in her face because I saw and heard something very scary at the vet when I was there last time with one of my dogs.

An officer had left his K9 at his house with his cat and they had been living together for a very long time. He left the house for only maybe 30 minutes and he came home to his beautiful K9's eye scratched to shreds. The officer was so shook up and it was so sad.

My puppy goes after the cat playing and sometimes he wants nothing to do with her. I made him his own special room (my lizard room) that she cannot get into so he can get a break. I did that after I heard about the K9, I'm still horrified because the officer was in tears carrying his dog into the office.
It sounds like they got into a scuffle!

Was the cat hurt?
