She knows more about dogs than half of the people running them. Don't ask her what she thinks about your run unless you want the truth. I have a young male that I call Tanner. His performance fluctuates between genius and lunatic - sometimes during the same session. I was talking about finding a home for him, and she says, "No way. He's beautiful, and you are being too quick." She may be right. I changed his training frequency, and his last performance was sheer genius.
I do have to say... Beagles can act quite brainless, but they're a very smart breed. I always thought Lucy was a bit slow in the smarts department, but years later she is quite a smart dog. She ran away the first day we had her because she was always outside and thought opening the door meant get out. It took her maybe a day to learn to sit and stay. She did run out the door about a year ago, but she went straight to the car because that's where I was. I rewarded her for doing that and she was so proud of herself. She just learned how to bay... She's 7! That's how unsocialized she was with her previous home. Poor thing didn't even know what a toy was or how to play.

Currently she's in our bed snoring on her new plush blankets she got for Christmas 😁
