BYC Café

Yeah here are some from when I brought them out Sunday. They were only in that bin for like 2 seconds while I carried them outside, not to worry haha I actually had to take them out of it one by one cause they wouldn’t come out. :lau

They’re still pretty scared and cold having never seen the great outdoors before but doing well!!

They’re definitely all boys though except one, maybe two. :hit

How do you have the luck where you get all boys?

Out of the 29 that I hatched last time, only three of them were boys!

Lucy hates anything that makes any type of buzzing noise and she will eat it She doesn't care 😂 She goes bananas outside when she's trying to go to the bathroom and there's a bee buzzing around her, she won't go to the bathroom until she eats it. She also somehow has this weird beagle nose that can sniff out grubs and she will pull them right out of the ground and eat them 🤮 She even brought me one and put it on the floor in front of me, I gagged so bad. I hate those things!

:lau:gig:lau

OMG!!

Maybe I need to hire her to get rid of the grubs in our yard.

The buff Orpington looks like it is a Pullet... My lav orp looks like a cockerel 😭

You should see the chicks that I just hatched! HeiHei mated with my girls and created the coolest looking chicks!

I have more hatching this weekend and somewhere near the 4th.

Idk but I definitely don’t want to go to a casino with my odds right now :lau maybe you should though! LOL

I’m jealous of that!

I was planning on keeping all the girls but instead I got all boys. :hit

If I don’t have at least 2 girls, I might sell them all. PITA integrating just one chick haha

I might possibly keep a rooster but idk if I want to be woken up or if the neighbors would appreciate that.

I don't even hear 'squatch when he starts crawling in the morning. The walls of the house pretty much muffle it out.

He actually doesn't crow that much. I think he crows about two times in the morning and that's about it. He is definitely really mature at this point, he was in that hormonal stage when he was 3 months old and now he's 9 months so he's pretty much peaked out. He's not jumping the girls all the time either so we have a very peaceful flock right now.

The only part that sucks when you do a cockerel is waiting for them to stop being such hormonal pigs.

I do recommend that every flock has a rooster because if you want to do eggs it's so much easier to just grab your own.

Thats what I’ve been thinking and hoping too but I’ve had some tell me it’s a boy so

I still think it looks like a girl though lol

And one Welsummer is definitely a girl because she has female specific coloring and her brother has male specific coloring and other very obvious signs.

The rest are definitely all boys. :hit

I was not sure on the Lav and the EE for a while but they’ve revealed themselves as cockerels. :hit

I really wanted to keep the Lav :hit

And oh wow that’s awesome!! I think I saw a couple of them.

And oh wow you are hatching a ton lately!! Haha

That's the sort of stuff that I get hung up on BB...so many memories tied up there. I need to purge a lot here too, but letting go is hard!
:( It is hard. But I don't want to leave my kids with the chore of going through tons of stuff once I'm gone. I know there will still be stuff but I can make it a lot easier for them if I purge now.

That’s awesome!!! Maybe I will keep one then. Johnny is so friendly and snuggly. :love

And yeah I was thinking about hatching my own eggs!! Plus of course the added layer of protection when free ranging.

I'm going to be hatching even more now that HeiHei is in the mix 😁 he makes gorgeous chicks. I know it isn't squatch because he can't throw those colors with any of my girls.

I would keep the lav orp! I think it's so pretty. The buff orp has a Pullet rearend I don't see saddle feathers at all especially comparing it to the lav orp.

We have a lot of people that want chicks so most of them will be going to homes. But obviously I get first pick! I'm greedy like that 😂 I gave away all those chicks the last time and a lot of them I wanted to keep. I'm not doing that this time!
