97 Fahrenheit here mid day I'm told. Sunny all morning so just keep out of the sun. This afternoon low storm clouds rolled over the ridge and spat at the ground for a few seconds; just enough to turn the place into a sauna. I'm hoping for a proper storm tonight.

Kinda weird here because the tires are stacked 2 or 3 tire highthese are not in the ground ... rapping them with wire should stop any critters you think

I had my pansies , primrose and marigolds eaten, I think rabbits did that

I wasn't sure whether it was the chickens or rabbits nibbling the budding flower tops off a local wildflower here, but since the rabbits disappeared a couple of weeks back (no idea why; I assume the same fox as attacked my flock) the flowers have regrown and bloomed, so that was definitely the rabbits.

A man here in Va. was killed today when a tree fell on his mobile home!

Low cloud with hot sun behind steaming the ground.
Not too bad temperature wise this morning.

We got a shower last night too. Temp is 61F. It's not too bad temperature wise this morning...

It's 'freezing' at 64°.....all that cool 'wet air pouring into the windows feels pretty nice,
I'm trying to ignore the fact that the humid air will fell terrible once the temp rises to about 75-80.
Going to the stores to stock up on all the food I lost, will enjoy the AC in the van and stores.

Can you install a window unit at least?
I keep my house very comfortable with just a window unit in my bedroom. I put a fan in the doorway and blow the cool air out into the main part of the house.

I used to have a window unit in the bedroom, when I was working and needed to sleep well and shower and dress without being soaked. Had to build a special mount for the awning window in there, which included removing the window when installing...worked good but was a bear to do even with help no longer available. I tried the fan thing to blow the cold air into the rest of the house, unit was just too small at the other end of a 60' house. All my windows are tall sliders, so impossible to pop one in. Have considered cutting a hole in the wall to put one in...but I just deal with it, and bitch most the whole time , during the heat waves. Luckily my house is a north facing walkout, so it's stays pretty cool down there most the summer for a bit of respite. Hot water baseboard heat or I would have put a central system in 20 years ago when I bought the place. Looked into 2" high velocity systems but they were like $15K, I'd need two compressors for house size, and not too efficient anyway.
