Where did the old cord fail?Getting the power cord replaced out to the coop...pouring sweat but going easier than anticipated. Buried cord in fine shape, surprising, putting new cord in same mini trench.
I know, I know, not OSHA approved.

Not sure exactly, but outer coating cracked or gone, and inner insulation and wires exposed where it was exposed to the elements. It tripped the GFCI twice in the last few weeks, so I replaced it, temporarily with my 'spare', then bought a new one for coop.Where did the old cord fail?
You are replacing with burial wire? Not sure exactly, but outer coating cracked or gone, and inner insulation and wires exposed where it was exposed to the elements. It tripped the GFCI twice in the last few weeks, so I replaced it, temporarily with my 'spare', then bought a new one for coop.
It had been out there for 7 years, and was older than that(think it was my dads, so 25yrs+), tho in good shape when I buried it.
Nope, just another heavy duty outdoor rated extension cord....that is buried a few inches below lawn. You are replacing with burial wire?
Can't you put it through pvc pipe? Not sure exactly, but outer coating cracked or gone, and inner insulation and wires exposed where it was exposed to the elements. It tripped the GFCI twice in the last few weeks, so I replaced it, temporarily with my 'spare', then bought a new one for coop.

Concrete breaking is okay with the right tool and in a big space. It's a nightmare down small holes in cramped spaces.Ugh! You wouldn't think hammering out such a small area would exhaust me so much.
I had a minor heart attack when water started leaking out from the pipe! I frantically called my plumber who said that's perfectly normal we're going to cut that pipe anyway; it's coming from the drum trap. Okey-dokey I'll just keep going.
As expected I busted through the entire thickness of the slab.
He'll cut the pipe off about 3/4 to 1 inch away from where it enters the drum trap.

Running the cord through a bit of that flexible plastic conduit before you bury it helps make it last. All the electrics here are sheaved in one of these. Not sure exactly, but outer coating cracked or gone, and inner insulation and wires exposed where it was exposed to the elements.
