Cats barfing mouse parts. :sick:sick:sick:sick:sick
We don't usually hear it but find them in the morning. No, not a fan.

she is incredibly fair in what she charges and in the event I don't have the money to pay her, she will happily accept and has in the past, woodwork I've done
We've seen your wood work, she's getting value in return for her work.

She has her own outdoor heated sleeping box aka whelping kennel.
"never again" ... you have a soft heart Sour :D

You are so lucky! Here our independent vets disappeared into a corporate outlet
Our vet got bought by one of those. He retired some months later. Still the same office staff and the other male vet. Newly minted female vet though there seems to be another now. Might be Dr. Katie is off on baby leave.

I hope the chicks survive her.
You need Anais the chicken auntie! I could never get her to move to the brooding area to take chicks but she's hung around and helped raise all 4 batches of chicks that came after her group of 12 in 2012. She and Persephone are the current survivors of that group though Anais is starting to look a bit old. Obviously not seeing as well as she used to. When I through out the morning kitchen scraps the others all hit it hard and she's like "whate, where? She does get her food and BOSS after but I think she misses out on the kitchen scraps.

In all honesty I tried to box trap her so that I could euthanize her. Even though starving she would not go in the box trap. Trap/neuter/release ? She evidently is spayed as she has never had kittens. Yeah, I couldn't let her starve so started feeding her. When I say 'feral', I mean wilder than a fox in the back yard. It took MANY years, but she eventually came to trust me, and then trust the Princess.

Well, my ploy seems to have helped. I checked on them when I got back from running the dogs and she is scratching away in the area behind the ward brooder where the compost bin used to be. It's a favorite scratching spot and is the same place Kerrie spent a lot of time with her brood when they first left the ward. Everyone is alive and there was a minimum amount to chick flinging. Veronica does seem to be more fixated now on scratching than sitting. So... there's that.
I think this bird is OCD. Seriously! She is the one who went around plucking beards out. She got Fabio too, after Captain, and several of the EEs. I had my suspicions about her. I think the cheese has slipped a little off her cracker. I should have broken her instead of let her set.
Hopefully them being out of the ward works. We'll have to see how she does with getting them into the run where the food and water are. I left the floor fan off for fear that the chicks are so small they might have trouble with the blast from the fan. It rained enough to wet the ground under the chicken bush and some of the hens have dug holes at the back of the run to wallow in the cool damp ground so I think they'll be okay in the heat.
I hope a bit of out and about works for them. I can still recall how upset I was when Myth attacked her chicks and left me to finish the job.
I don't let junior, or temperamentally doubtful hens sit any more.

How tame did she become?
