I love fig season. They’ve been going strong at the local market here for a month or so. I give them another week, maybe two, before they’re gone till next year. I especially enjoy them cold from the fridge.
Don't think I've ever had a fresh fig.....but I sure do love Fig Newtons!!

Pretty sad shape but my back is worse.
I bet!

Decided to stop selling eggs, production is slowing down,
gonna stock up to keep myself in eggs over winter.
I am at about that point as well. Only 6 today and the number of girls blowing feathers is increasing.

I know that they also have a constant weasel problem.
Maybe the dogs could be trained to go after weasels and racoons as well as rabbits.

Now I'll have to lug the shingles up the ladder a 1/2 bundle at a time.
That sucks!! Yeah, close up 20 minutes early because you sure don't want to make any more money today, right? :he

Can you explain why it is common in the States to build with shingles instead of something more permanent, such as ceramic roof tiles or slates like in Europe?
As Cap said, cost. And I bet one would have a hard time finding someone that can install slate any more. Plus weight, you can put asphalt shingles on a wimpier structure, whatever goes under a slate roof better be sturdy. There are a number of slate roofs here on old houses, it pretty much does last forever if kept in good shape.

I believe even metal is more expensive than the typical asphalt shingles used there.
Usually yes though I have a friend who got a standing seam roof some years ago cheaper than an asphalt shingle roof would have cost. Steel was cheap and oil was through the roof that year.

I reached the ridge and trimmed the shingles overhanging the rake.
Dang you do good and fast work!!!! Glad you stripped the old shingles, laying new on old can be done but shortens the life of the new roof.

The fingerprint reader on my phone isn't working.
Don't you hate that?! Last time it happened to me I had to restart my phone. I keep forgetting it is not my Macbook that doesn't need to be booted to "clean it up" every few days.

It is smokey out there and hard to breath even for non-stressed breathers! Just a few more hours...
Nice job on the roof, DL. We encased the wrestling room in plastic for the blizzard tomorrow. Wouldn't want those foam pads to go flying!
⛄
We have hope here for the smoke to go back up north tomorrow!

I painted the inside of half the original coop today. Going to replace perches too, been a couple years. Tomorrow I am going to paint to other half once I get the coop cleaned out. After that I can spray the whole inside of the coop once it dries with bug killer.
Also worked a little on the run for the Seramas, got the third piece of wire on the roof of the run. I need more metal clothesline to finish that part up. Then staple the wire to the wooden parts. The playhouse is pretty much ready to move down once the run is done.

I think the growing season here is a bit behind yours. The figs here are only just starting to ripen properly. We have a green fig here that won't be ready until early October.
