Good morning Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Shad and I hope you do take as much time as you can to rest today.
Another busy day up on deck with a vet appointment for Bella tossed in for good measure. Liquid bloody diarrhea all night. I've hit her with kaolin/pectin multiple times, 3 doses of immodium and gave her 562 mg metronidazole this morning. The vet can't even lecture me about the metro because I won't be in the office when they examine her.
I think she got sick drinking out of the creek. She'll be fasting today except for small amounts of boiled rice and chicken to get her meds in her.
For the first time in a long time I had a middle of the night cooking session. I snapped wide awake at 12:50 and knew within 10 minutes I wasn't going to fall back to sleep any time soon and me not wanting to waste the time, started cooking.
I finally fell back to sleep a bit past 4:15. I could hear Fabio crowing. Woke up at 8.

Ice your face in that area and eat only soft foods, but you likely know that since you had others out. Hope you heal quickly.

I'm on solids, of sorts, today so no biggy. Just have to gum my food to death for a few weeks.

See below! I also ran the dishwasher and cleaned all my dishes which is normally DHs job.

She's good. Still wants to eat. I give her a bit of rice and chicken just to get the kaolin pectin and immodium in her.

@DobieLover - good luck with Bella. Brewed a fresh pot. Rabbits are not cooperating, but got 2 dogs worked this morning - one more to go.

She seemed more comfortable after her metronidazole dose.

Ginger apricot chicken in the slow cooker.
I sliced up and boiled the excess ginger to make ginger tea. It's good as a systemic anti-inflammatory.

Yeppers! Boiled 4 chicken thighs with skin and bone and used the water to cook the rice, added 4 eggs to the hot rice then shredded the chicken into it. Bella was very interested in my cooking!

Nasty stuff...Rascal had that when I got him, he 'gave' it to Libby.
Took weeks of meds and bleaching piles in the yard.
No blood, but could tell by the 'sheen' if it was still present.


Got off my butt and ran some errands today.
Including, finally, the plastic glazing for the coop window broken during the June storm.
Measurements were tight(thought I left some room to spare) but fit.
Who knows how long it will be before it's actually installed, got a worktable set up inside for it to dry out, and window is back where it belongs.

This is what I came upon while driving up the hill from mom's house to get Bella for her appointment.

I thought there was a flare in the road. It's a high voltage wire that came down across the road when a tree fell on the line.
Sorry, ma'am, you can't go up there. CRAP!!
I called the vet and explained the situation and said, "Can you just give me the metronidazole because that's what you're going to do anyway? Talk to Dr. Roberts. He knows me."
They did and he put up the metro for me without seeing Bella.

All the diarrhea is taking it's toll on her, uh, well, exit portal. She was reaching back trying to lick it.
I put a cold damp compress on it to soothe it and I could tell she appreciated that. You know it's true love when you are willing to hold a cold wet paper towel to your dog's butt hole!

I put a cold damp compress on it to soothe it and I could tell she appreciated that. You know it's true love when you are willing to hold a cold wet paper towel to your dog's butt hole!

Vaseline helps that issue, applied on the affected area.
