Something good in 2020 We had to do banking today little shopping .. Told BF we should have lunch, well he did not want to end result his blood sugar hit a low. Cussed him good I came back from cleaning coops the Son was panicking cuz his Dad was low and out of it got peanut butter sandwich and a half plus 2 peanut butter cookies I make and a small dish of cashews

Not something to mess with. Both my BIL and ex traveling partner are/were diabetic.

No, it is not good to breed frizzle to frizzle. I have a smooth bantam cochin pullet he can hang with when he gets bigger.
She is much bigger than this now. This was the day I got her.

Myself and one other split and I stack.

Seems one person does most of the work there.

Foofy is ok, but I prefer to look at him as special needs. Frizzle chickens need to be kept warm since the feathers to not lay flat and trap air as normal feathers do.

If a hen can't deal with the winter temps here by themselves, I don't want them. I've had everything from Cubalaya (not exactly know as winter hearty) to Chanteclers and all have just puffed up and done well winter after winter. And of course they have all been fairly water resistant. That is more my style

I treat them the same every season. The auto door opens with the sun, they come out into the run. I go down and open the barn door at some point, give them breakfast and BOSS plus any kitchen scraps. If there isn't snow on the ground or pouring rain (wimps ) they forage around the fenced acre as they see fit. I'll wander down a few times a day if any are laying in freezing weather (basically only first year pullets) to save the eggs. otherwise they get a visit a couple of hours before the sun goes down for dinner feed and scratch. They go back into the coop as it gets dark and I go out to close up.

I didn't quite get done what I wanted but still did a lot and I'm satisfied.

We have developed some sort of bond now.

Same here with Kenfig, the partially sighted pullet. She does 'heel' better than the dog does! Almost like she's glued to my ankle once she connects, when I go to let them out in the morning. She follows me in, has a hearty breakfast in her box, then I pop her out the door to spend the day with the flock, and come teatime we do the same again. It's little extra work for me, and she's happy and healthy. (A little swelling on her cheek from a wasp sting yesterday notwithstanding...) Her teenage croak is giving way to an adult cluck, and I'm hoping she may start laying around Christmas

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is on... boy do I need it.
I awoke to the stench of dog doo in the bedroom, again. When we got home yesterday morning after our trip to Wilkes-Barre, Bella had had an accident. A little soft. I chalked it up to her trying to hold it in and not have an accident.
I went through 1 1/2 rolls of paper towels and half a bottle of disinfectant spray to clean the floor and then mopped. Twice. It was EVERYWHERE and several puddles had blood in it. And Skittles slipped through the wettest pile after coming down the dog stairs to go to the exterior door to the deck so he tracked it that way. Fuji did the same on her way out the bedroom door to the hall and she tracked it THAT way. Both had their feet washed.
I just boiled a batch of chicken and the rice is cooking in that water now. I've got about 5 days of metronidazole left. The last episode, I was told to stop the metro once she'd had a day of solid BMs.
I don't know what she got into this time because I've kept her from the creek.
