Good morning Cafe. I have made some coffee if any would like some - Lavazza, and no funny stuff in it

Up early this morning, and just put the Christmas cake in the oven... same recipe that I've used for 20+ years; let's hope 2020 doesn't jinx it!

I do like a traditional Christmas Cake.

A good one will do that to me after a few slices. It's the brandy in the Christmas Puddings that sends me off to sleep.

I ended up spending over 2 hours at Lowes buying 4 items and (attempting) to return 5 "items".
The hold up? I had purchased 40 bundles of shingles. I took 15 home that day and overloaded the truck. The order was set for 'will pick up later'.
I picked up another 12 bundles the next day leaving 13 to go. I don't need them this year because we aren't going to do the back of the roof until spring. I want to return them.
They can't find them. The teller at the customer service desk tried to tell me I already picked them up.
Uh. No. I didn't. Look harder...
He doesn't really put much effort into it and says there's nothing he can do.
A few naughty words escaped my lips and I went off to get my 4 items. I told my story to the guy who got my door down from top stock. He hooked me up with Daryl "The Manager". It took Daryl about 45 minutes to find the order but he did and lo and behold, I was right.
I got the nearly $400 refunded to my card and gave the clerk who said he couldn't do anything dirty looks the whole time he sheepishly processed the transaction.

but still don't quite grasp all the different terms for what we 'yanks' call desserts

that reminds me of a comment a German colleague once made when I was extolling the cakes to be found on the continent; 'but nowhere else does puddings like the UK' she said. (The sweet tooth ruins our teeth though )
