BYC Café

Good morning, Cafe! Hugs, DL, and thanks for the coffee.
Wind on and off, moose in the pastures, and I am trying to finish
up the last of the firewood for the year, haven't I already said that, and get the house a bit tidier. There are a few procrastinators out there in winter prep apparently!
DS$ is training hard and the college coach that came by the club practice room had a
chat and handed him his contact number, so now he wants to train even harder. I know he was disappointed in not placing at the last tournament and this helped assuage that wound.
I hope you all have a great day and stay safe!

Hawks are very observant, intelligent and skillful. Beautiful creatures, but of course I do not want them killing my chicken.
I love hawks, eagles, all raptors. 'Your' hawks sound very intelligent indeed.

Still don't want them, or any other critter, eating my birds either.

Four thousand square meters?
That's HUGE!!
That is a nice range for them to roam around. Although before raccoons invaded our county coming from southern parts of Germany, they had much more: 26.500 m² .

It took them some time to get used to the reduced space and I had to cut down on the number of chicken as well.

Morning Cafe Pugsly woke me at 7 he had to pee like me okay we got that settled.
I have hatched 6, 1 waiting 5 like the photo 1 blonde

Good morning, cafe. Thanks for the coffee, DL. :hugs

Breezy again today, but supposed to top out at 53°. I've got one little-engine-that-could chicken that is consistently laying still. About a week and a half and I'll have enough for Dobie's frittata :gig

Happy Tuesday to all!

Thank you, I'll have a giant mug today as it is cold here too and drizzling with nasty gusts of wind.

I woke up today to the panic stricken screams of my chicken trying to escape a big hawk that somehow managed to get through the netting. I jumped out of bed and ran out barefooted and in pyjamas to fight him off my pullets. The villain escaped climbing the game fence and squeezing through the upper mesh. But I scared him quite a bit so hopefully he will be off for some days.
Tonight I will check thoroughly on my white La Flèche, as one of them left loads of feathers behind and was squished rather tightly into the big bamboo.
I hope they are all fine!

Are hawks especially hungry there now or migrating?
