Well, still colder than a well diggers arse out there. -6°f and "feels like" -22°. The actual well diggers are doing shop work today.

My dad tells the story about drilling at one of the mines when it was -40° many moons ago. I don't know how they did it. I'd never make it!

I've ever been they were digging an oil well on our property. It was 69 below wind-chill. Tears froze my eyelid shut! It was horrible . You make sure skin is not expose, and take breaks out of wind and thaw things out.Do the chooks comb freeze there?

Nope, no heat here and the windows and pop doors are open in two coops and the third has a fresh air intake and exhaust fan. I have had a few get frost bite, but mostly my own fault for letting the coop get too dirty. At least one got frostbite roosting in the barn: lots of fresh air, but the wind was coming through.

I don't have what's considered adequate ventilation in my old coop, but if the litter is kept up then the humidity stays down enough to not cause problems.
