BYC Café

Morning and thanks for the coffee. A bobcat snagged one of my hens when they went too far into the forest midday. I try to remind them every morning to, "Stay out of the long grass!" but they don't remember and that one was always to be found way far away from everyone else. I thought of Shad and I hope his chickens are getting along okay.
I hope he is doing well too.
I hope the Cafe Peeps that need rain get some and the ones that need sun, get to warm up and dry out! We have more rain coming in Sun, Mon timeframe. The last of my snowdrifts up by the trees will be gone today but still no leaves on the Aspens.
More coffee and off to chores. Enjoy the day!

Good morning, cafe! Thanks for the coffee, LF and Sour.

It looks like my apples and cherries were unaffected by the deep freeze. The big cherry tree is in about a half-bloom. It'll be so pretty when it opens all the way up. That tree is a chicken favorite. They love to day roost in the branches and lay underneath on the ground. When the cherries get ripe it's open season. It's funny how high they can jump!

It got down to 32° last night and I forgot I'd put my hanging basket out...it looked fine this morning, so hoping it's alright!

My husband humors my love of odd-ball animals and that calf is a heifer, so I may get to keep her around. We'll see how everything goes! She is awfully cute. :love

Almost forgot, I was given another pretty blue egg yesterday. Not as brilliant, but neat, nonetheless.

I only have one that is laying thin or shell-less eggs. Una has always laid a thinner shelled egg but had never had a problem with breakage.
If she is getting old, then that can explain the thin shells.

My 5 year old hen lays eggs with thinner shells now
