Yes, thankfully we used trash bags and sand bags (we bought more than 200kg sand two days ago) to temporarily seal the two ventilation windows of basement from outside, otherwise there will be tons of water in the basement now 😱

For us, June was dry-dry-dry. Drought conditions in most of Michigan. Then we got a lot of rain. And then we got a bazillion mosquitos. Damn the little bloodsuckers!

The Japanese Beetles are out now. I'm finding some in my asparagus patch, and a lot more in my usual hunting places than even just yesterday. Munchy crunchy chickie snack! :drool

There are 4 mature oak trees that we are going to have taken down. DH is quite competent with a chainsaw, but wants no part of trying to fell stuff that's leaning over the house, and I'm glad. It won't be cheap, but these people know what they're doing (used them before) and are good. I don't have a problem paying for this kind of dangerous work. They can't get a crane back here, so they'll send climbers.

I asked that everything over 4" be chipped up. Oh, man, am I going to have a wealth of wood chips! Chickens will get a new "floor" in their run. I'll put a ton (or more) on my heavy clay soil garden, and maybe have some left for walkways. :clap
