I'll send Bella over to you for the next few thunder storms so she can learn from Maggie that they are to be challenged, not feared.

Maggie thinks that she can kick butt on all levels. Deep inside she fears the world. I'm her support system. My feet are her safety zone. That head is getting sort of heavy.

Had to change dinner plans but all food works right ..
Peeps are all still with .. Silkie I am so hoping that not seeing any wattles they are pullets but all can change I know

Still hot as hades, but lower humidity this afternoon made for some nice relief.
Crop Gobber still has a lump that is not breaking up easily, not sure it'll all go away.

Yeah, it went waaaay down here. I was surprised.

I gave the littles a few Japanese Beetles out of today's haul. Stormy, the brave adventurous one, was the first to try them. She figured out quickly how to nab them.

I'm breathing a little easier that they are all pullets. They all have about the same amount of comb, and it's still yellowy flesh color. I don't see any evidence of wattles. They are 7 weeks old now.

they are getting really cocky all of a sudden
(yeah, yeah.....that's how it often happens).

Decided to simplify my slaughtering process, to almost eliminate the dreaded cleanup tasks and much of the set up too.
Gonna use CD to kill, then skin enough to filet breasts and harvest thighs, legs, upper wings. The rest of the carcasses will go to the woodland creatures.
Will kill 3 and keep 1, for now.

I actually had to use this technique on my first slaughter, a cockerel that I was going to skin and preserve the hackles and saddles until I realized he was covered in lice<shudder>.
Luckily during my copious research I had learned about it.

When I was breeding Cockers, they didn't care about thunder or fireworks IF I was in the kennel with them when it happened. Gee, I was plenty scared tho.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.
Yesterday's storms never materialized. I wish I had gotten some wash on the line. Today I will make up for it. I now get to spend some quality time on the phone trying to reach the IRS... again. It took them 13 months to process my 2019 return. It's been over 5 months for the 2020 return so I'm jumping on it early this year to try to avoid all the issues I had last year when they didn't process my return. What fun!
