All set up to slaughter cockerels in the morning.
Really looking forward to a simpler process, hope it works as well as I am imagining.
If skinning works well, might even preserve some hackles and saddles.
Skinning is easy with cockerels. It is harder with older chickens though.

dip the bird in boiling water makes it eaiser did a couple cockerels I grew up for dinner..
My folks left skins on but are we wiser to take them off now?
Not scalding and plucking...or gutting.
Have plucked cockerels in the past, sometimes there are so many pin feathers I end up skinning anyway.
Gonna use CD to kill, then skin enough to filet breasts and harvest thighs, legs, upper wings.

Good luck tomorrow.

What will you make out of those?
Thanks!
Not sure, just curious and want to try the process.
They are often used for fly tying.

Ah, interesting.

Well, if you wanted a helper, I would have been glad to assist and learn. But our friend who was in the hospital with a bad kidney infection came home today! :wee I'm going to go see him and his wife tomorrow.

The plan is that I will stay with him for a few hours on Wednesday and Friday, so his wife can go back to work. She was worried that 9 hours might be a bit too long for him to be home alone, just in case.
