5 out of 6 is not bad

Agrees, especially with shipped eggs that were moved from incy to hen midway.

Young cockerel successfully mounted a hen in the coop this morning, I was surprised she let him.
Also saw him riding the neck of another bird, not sure if hen or pullet, out the poop door yesterday.
Haven't been observing as much as I 'should' so don't know just how aggressive he is all day long, or whether he's had any run-ins with Willie. Overall when I've seen him try to mount he's not too bad, not chasing them down relentlessly.
Never had 2 males before, so it's interesting.

Cooler and smokey here but no rain so I guess it is off to get some chores done.

Are you planning on keeping a cockerel out of this lot and raising pure breds next generation? Another coop/pen in your future?

As tempting as it is to have a pure breed line, no. I have zero interest in a second setup.

She went outside for a scratch. And will hopefully take care of other business while she's out.

She's got to feel a whole lot better now that that's out. I've never seen a bigger pile than that!!
