Any day now! Are they squatting?

Not squatting really, but they come running and talk and hang around me, looking for guidance and company in the coop and nesting boxes.
As soon as I start to clean the poop boards, they come to sit in the nest boxes and talk to me.

With the noticeable shortening of daylight and the nasty grey weather and all the rain, they might need a vitamin D boost to get started.

Yes...am so tempted to fire up the furnace.

Being chilly doesn't mean you'll get sick

Closed the living room window, but still haven't turned on the furnace.
Sure was rough getting out of the quilt cave this morning, got dressed fast.

If I had a wood burner or small heater for the living room, I probably would have used it.

Supposed to be fairly warm and dry(!) the next few days, gotta get the shade cloths down.

Yeah, I gotta get some stuff done before the next round of rain at the end of the week. I'm thinking of building a wind break out of the drops from the roof panels today.

All the chickens were still on the roost (except on the lip of the poop board) this morning when I opened up the coop. I think I can call my integration successful.

Back is pretty much all better.....my feet are coldest.
Might put the heating pad on the floor....hmm.

It's a beautiful autumn day.

I saw 6 woolly bears.
Most of them were on the pavement.

Now it's time to go home and make something for brunch. I haven't eaten yet.
