BYC Café

We have discussed this before, maybe here or the old folks home. One suggestion is to split the difference and "spring forward" 1/2 hour and leave it alone.

DD1's thought is that we should get rid if time zones all together and have everyone on UTC all the time, run on a 24 hour clock. 0800 in London is 0800 in New York and Honolulu and Beijing. Set your business hours based on your location in the world as it suits you with respect to local daylight times.
I have never heard of the half hour compromise suggestion... maybe that would be the best way to do it.

DD1's idea is interesting... 🤔

Sunset at 4:30 is Just. Too. Early. It's 5:07 for about 9 days in December here.
Yeah but your sunrise is about 8 AM then!

If 4:30 is TOO EARLY how about 4:11? ;) When we have that in early Dec, sunrise is 7:10

We could all move to the equator and sunrise would be 6 AM, sunset 6 PM (give or take a couple of minutes) all year round ;)

Leave the dang clocks alone and if a business wants to change the hours of operation they can. Decide which end of the work day you want it to be light. Of course it won't matter in Alaska, going to be dark at both ends in December (sorry Al!!!)
I live in AZ, where they don't play that particular reindeer game.

The hubs teleworks in TX though, so our get up time shifts. 4:30 to 5:30 & back. Or it did, til it got stuck at 4:30, about five years ago. We'll never have normal body clocks again. And we're no fun as party guests after 9 pm (unless we've had a nap).
