Morning @Offshoreorca, 400,000 sounds like a big city to me! There are only about 57,000 in the city I live in (and it's the 2nd largest in the state of Wyoming).

It's all contextual - I'm sure anyone from Los Angles or New York City would feel like they were in a small town I grew up near Vancouver, British Columbia, which makes Halifax feel quite little. Our province has under 1 million people and half of them are living in this one area (Halifax Regional Municipality), so it doesn't take very long to get out into the country and woods again thankfully.

I spend most of the time about 4 hours away from the city on Cape Breton Island in a community of less than 2,000 people - which is much more to my preference

This is great! I’ll likely end up somewhere so rural that I need a boat to go to “town” - just have to get a job that allows for me to live at the family home back on the west coast and I’ll be all set

I'm between two small towns. One has a population of 4100, the other 5800. The local Meijers is 12+ miles away. The closest gas station is 10 miles away.

You need to plan and be prepared out here. But the four other families on the road will do what they can to help you in a pinch. We've all helped each other in some way or another.

Great "spell fixer" error. It does sound like Dobie puts a lot of different crops in her pot.

the City of Halifax barely meets the requirement for a "city" at only about 400,000 total population.

Yeah, context! It is 4x the size of the most populated county in Vermont, total state population is about 623,000.

I've made an evening pot of coffee. Help yourselves.
Rather lovely day here weatherwise. Not that cold at 14 degress plus. It didn't rain and the wind didn't howl. What else can one ask for in the UK.
Henry 11 the allotment rooster finally allowed me to give his wattles a bit of a rub this afternoon. I think we're going to get along. He has looked a bit concerend as I've worked my way through the hens giving them a health check.
The last three which are his favourites which I have delberately left to last are now allowed to come and visit me without inducing any stress in Henry it seems.
If I come on BYC tomorrow with with a few scratches and may be a bit of blood loss it will mean I've made a minor misscalculation.
I am told that no single person has ever managed to catch Henry in daylight hours and a couple of people have some minor wounds to attest to this.
Got to be worth a try.
