Did he hang his head in embarrassment?
Maybe. It was 6:00 in the morning and pitch black out. I just heard them.

I just went out to move their pumpkin over near the chicken bush so they can enjoy it more. I'm sure they feel more secure there as that is where they spend a large part of their days.
It's also the dust bathing hours and I saw Ace in the run taking a bath. I've never seen Napoleon take one, but I have seen him sun bathe.
Fabio likes to dust bath at the very end of the day after the vast majority of the hens have gone to roost.

Pics??

Not fun weather to be doing construction!
It certainly wasn’t fun weather. We fixed the roof on the main portion of the coop with some plywood and tar paper. Then did some work to the back - made the door more sturdy with extra buttons and fixed a few holes. Removed some soft panels and replaced with more plywood.

Here it is - just have to cover the section of roof over the run, give it a repaint, and get some leaf litter/mulch in the run so it’s not quite as wet.

It’s nothing fancy, and certainly not level (nothing is in Cape Breton 🤣), but it does it job well. The inside portion is quite large and has a loft for nesting. It also covers half the run to give some shelter for those wet days. They’ll free range out the side door in nice weather.

Nice Job did you leave ventalation in the coop part ?

Cool We are replacing my monster coop. The dome has been great but it is nearing the end of life.
7 year's old this year hard to realize that.

Yes! Time goes so fast. I can only imagine how much more work fixing a larger one up would be.

I’m glad my big coop is only a year old 😊 So far, so good.

We got all of the unsplit wood split and stacked today. Most of it will be useable this winter, I think.

Tomorrow, the tree crew will be here to take down the four oaks that are leaning over the house, and the elm leaning over the run. I really hope the wind dies down; the oaks gotta be 70+ feet tall. I'll feel better when they are all horizontal.
