Um, those are not the same desk. The pulls don't match and if you had changed the ones on the LOVELY varnished wood to those on the painted one there would be visible holes.

Thus, I am confused
Well, I don't know what to tell ya Bruce. They're the same desk. The hardware change is easy when you wood fill the hardware holes and sand them. The desk wasn't in very good condition when I bought it. You just can't tell in the pictures
The finish on the desk was damaged and some of the drawer backs were cracked.
I loved the storage and lines of the desk but not the finish so I lightened and antiqued it and added the fabric to dress and "girl" it up.
The desk had been marked down twice at the antique mall before I found it and bought it. It had been there for of over 2 months.

So you INTENTIONALLY painted it to look like it was old and in poor shape??
Yes. In person it looks much better than it did when I brought it home. Although when I waxed it, it brought up pink stain from the wood so I'll likely go back over it with BIN and touch up the paint.

Good grief.
Nan just texted me a picture of my wood stove with the bypass handle laying on the hearth. It has a D slot that just slides on the D peg in the stove and can get loose from the heating and cooling cycles. Nan couldn't get it to slide back on so she tapped with a piece of wood and forced the peg and entire arm back into the stove. Great. The only thing I can think to do from my office desk is to tell her to try to grab the peg with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it back out.
I don't know why she keeps messing with the stove. I put plenty of wood in it before I left.
