How are things today with little Skittles? @DobieLover

@DobieLover hope you and Skittles have a better day :hugs
Thanks a bunch for the coffee. I surely could use a mug or two... or three.

He's a tiny bit better. Still hurting though.

I am trying to manage the bloody reeking ooze coming out of his backside. He got the loose top sheet on the bed again so I was up a bit after 2 this morning pulling it off and getting it in the wash. The rest of what oozed out was caught on the pad/towel I put down on the fitted sheet.

He's interested in eating so I fed him about 2Tbs of his chicken/rice mix last night and he ate it and kept it down. That also makes getting his meds into him easier.

I went to my sister's last night and between her, her husband and I we put 150 mls subQ into him. The plan was to put another 200 in this morning at 8 but the roads are a literal sheet of ice. They look like glass. So I'm stuck up here on the hill and left all the IV supplies at her house.

But Skittles ate again this morning and is showing no signs of nausea (the cerenia is helping there) so I'm going to give him 20 mls of water/broth every 20 minutes to keep him as hydrated as I can throughout the day. That's the best I can do.

For the intestines, I'm going to give him a very small amount of psyllium in his tiny meals to help absorb the liquid in his GI tract so he stops leaking. The poor little guy has had numerous butt baths to clean him up.

I've also done three loads of wash to keep up with the stinky old towels I've been using to protect the bed and couch and the ones I use to dry him with after his baths.

Did you try the Moro carrot soup already? It really helps a lot and usually they love it.

Just feeding a cup of Moro carrot soup 20 minutes prior to his meals for 3-4 days will help to restore his gut balance.

He can't handle that much. I don't want to push him too far too fast. He needs fluids more than anything. I don't want to make him vomit.
I NEED the Town to salt the damn roads so I can get to my sisters house and get some subQ fluids into him along with the oral fluids I'm giving.

How far is it to your sisters house, could you go by foot?

Good morning! Hugs, DL and a gentle rub for Skittles... I hope he keeps improving!
It is sunny and cold here but warming up for the week.
Meg, thanks for the pics! They are sooooo cute!
I think I am shoveling more snow now that we have some okay weather on tap. The chickens need some outside room to play in.
Enjoy the day and stay safe and warm!
