BYC Café

Good morning, Cafe. Thanks for the coffee, Tonya!

Seems like a lot going on and I'm not sure where to start. Chickens are laying about a dozen a day and are laying willy nilly about the coop. They've gotten the axe from barn, for now, and apparently do not understand the nest box. Maybe it's too small... maybe they're protesting...

It seems I'm sick again and I never get sick. Now I'm twice in a month. I knew this clean living business would be the death of me :lau

The surgeon I went to to have a cyst cut out of my side did her residency under a pancreatic cancer specialist in Florida. After going through my chart, she wants me to have screenings because of Mom's untimely death. Got the results back the other day: pancreas good, liver good, aorta good, multiple gallstones. Huh?? Just a watch and see for now, I guess!

I decided to start a baked goods Monday at work, just for fun and because this beautiful plate needs to be seen :p Made a German chocolate cake for Pa's birthday on Sunday:

I do believe it's day 25 of no smoking. I'm not paying real close attention to the days, because I knew right away it was over. I've found my self quite a pile of energy in my 180°, but still trying to figure out my focus. Everything is getting a little better, for sure. Knowing that the cravings don't ever seem to go away has helped, I think. At least I know.

Hope everyone's well.
Very glad it is "only" the gall stones @Meg-in-MT !

Your cake looks delicious and very tempting, I hope you all will have a nice birthday party with your Dad.

25 days without smoking! Hurray :woot

I quit smoking in the beginnings of October 1989 and never had a single drag ever since.
But I agree that sometimes, especially after a wonderful sunday breakfast I would still love to smoke a cigarette while reading my Sunday paper! It was like a ritual for me and I guess that is what keeps the craving (for the ritual) alive even after so many years.

sending good wishes and prayers your way Meg in MT. Beautiful cake and beautiful plate! Happy day, I found the cafe!
Welcome to the Café @Boppo ! :frow

Nice to have you here with us, so have a cup to start with:

Good morning, Cafe', and thanks for the coffee.
@Meg-in-MT Well done! I quit nicotine perhaps 15 years ago (leaf tobacco). The craving is triggered less frequently now, and I spend a lot of time around folks with bags of chew in their pockets. I have told the Princess that if I ever get a fatal diagnosis I will not drink again, but I will come with a bag of Levi Garret in one back pocket and a bag of Redman in the other.

@Meg-in-MT you're doing great! Keep it up. :yesss:

Lucky you that your gall stones aren't causing you trouble. I mouthed off once to a friend, bragging that I was the only of my siblings to still have my gall bladder. That night I had my first attack. It was out within a week.

We had lots of rain last night. There is a skating rink in the side yard now, as everything starts to refreeze. DH said the gravel roads were a mix of mud and glare ice on his way to work this morning.

I remember driving to work, sliding from one sandy/gravel spot to the next, using the entire road. Then straddling the center line on the "crown" of the paved road and creeping in to work. I saw one other vehicle on the way, and I waited on a clear spot in my lane for him to pass. We nodded at each other, both of us looking grim. I didn't need coffee that morning.

But I do now, so thanks for the cup! Here's another pot.

Hi Meg, sorry you aren't feeling well. But you did a great job with the cake, I'm sure the birthday boy will enjoy it!

Hang in there Meg. You can do it. It keeps getting better and better.

We had lots of rain last night. There is a skating rink in the side yard now, as everything starts to refreeze.
We only got just over a half inch.
Not sure where it all went as I see no obvious flow patterns, but the under run is dry and all the puddles are gone there, coop path is wet but not squishy.
Driveway is totally clear. Whew.
Rain then snow to start around 1pm.
