Morning Cafe and it is .. up at 7 here had to boost the internet here as needed more bytes .. Why never got charged for overages and the more bytes the cost won't change.

Flat shovel might work on a paved surface, maybe you can get under the sheet and lift. But to break thick ice into manageable pieces, I find the ice chisel superior.

It works as a chopper, it's pretty heavy gauge steel....but, yeah, I hear ya.

I find the flat shovel works better tho, just wish it had a longer handle.

Oh, yeah, my back gets tired from bending over that short little thing! The ice is still firmly stuck to the ground, and I can't get under it because the blacktop underneath is so broken up.

I can't get it off the gravel/dirt/grass driveway....but got a bunch off the patio and garage apron, both concrete.
Lots is melting, but nowhere for much of it to go.
Sure hoping the ~1" of rain forecast for tonight doesn't flood the garage.

We're forecast to get heavy rain tonight too. At least I don't have to worry about the river flooding us; we're a good 100'(?) above river level. We'll see what the yard around the run looks like tomorrow.

Then it all freezes and we get 1-2" of snow.

Yeah that is the big problem. This time of year it sits on the frozen ground and freezes into deadly ice. Come spring it "soaks" into the upper layer of dirt, the layer above the still frozen ground, and you get mud.

Then it all freezes and we get 1-2" of snow.

Actually that is good, the snow will freeze to the ice and give you a walking surface that doesn't require skates or cleats.

Oh, man I hope so. Our driveway was too slippery to walk on today. DH made it to work and back, but we didn't walk Freya our usual route. We slogged out to the mailbox through the field.

It was good exercise, though.

Nice to be able to do that .. I may wear short rubber boots into the grass ..
Pride myself getting the dogs to exercise running at me and off.We have played like that since they where all young.

Not QUITE the same as winter on CBI is it!

Definitely not - they’re rotating between freezing to death and drowning in rain right now. So warm some days that folks are worried about ventilation in their winterized run and then in plummets to the deep freeze again.
