Good evening Cafe.
Bad weather day here. 90 mph winds. 100 mph plus recorded at the coast.
No public transport running so no allotment visit today.

I had my first Shingrix shot yesterday around 5:00. My arm is a bit swollen and certainly sore. And today I'm really much more lethargic than normal. Anyone else have similar side effects?

Apply an ice pack, 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off. I find it helps. Especially if they didn't warm the vaccine before injecting it.

I kept him at about a 1/2" no matting, no combing.
No brushing or shedding was great,
but grooming(bath, clip, ear plucking, toe nails) could take up the whole day.

Some days i used to groom up to 13 dogs, back in the day.

So... maybe he'll see the need for more chickens, to keep us in enough eggs to make one every week...?

Um, in "high season" you only need maybe 2 chickens to make 1 frittata per week. In the down time it doesn't matter how many chickens you have since they aren't laying

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.
This was the creek on yesterday's run. VERY muddy and very full.

The river went above the prediction to hit the action limit and instead hit minor flood level because of the ice jams. You can see where they caused blips in the gauge readings.

We are under another wind advisory for the day. My fingers froze just feeding the flock yesterday. I waited until it (and I) warmed up a bit to go out and clean the boards.

20°F at the moment but the wind is ripping. 20°F feels VERY cold. I didn't leave the barn door cracked because even with an 8" opening the wind was strong inside. I'm sure the chickens won't mind not being able to go out their door today.
