BYC Café

Morning how are you doing we are dry here .. Has been the wetest since like 1950 here.
Waiting for some serious rain as everything is drying up like tinder. We have already forest fire hazard warnings for several counties.
Usually, May is a rather rainy but warm month around here, but this year even the previous months have been much too dry and the ongoing strong winds make it even worse.

They say we should get rain tomorrow. I really hope so. The heavy soil garden has dried into cement. I tried to hoe it. HA! If I do much of that, I'll wreck my elbows and wrists.

As soon as I can hoe and rake it, I'll be putting on all the thatch and leaves I've been saving. Then I need DH's help to put gobs of wood chips on too. If it takes the whole pile, well, so be it.

but a dusty fan is dangerous, not to mention annoying as hell.
True, regular cleaning would be required.

(FOB = Free on board, the cost of the coffee at the port of departure).
Almost. It means Freight On Board. The cost if YOU go to THEM to pick up the product.

wool jumpers
I'm guessing this is another "British English" vs "USA English" because I suspect you would feel somewhat odd in a jumper

Remove thrower, weights, and chains from tractor.
Sharpen and install blades, install deck onto tractor.
Wonders if grass will be up to my knees(already past ankles) before all that is done? :gig
I got those first parts done but haven't mowed yet. Haven't seen a drop of rain in well over a week. I think it best to let the grass grow and feed the roots. We'll see what happens while DW and I are in Canada through next Wednesday. Might have .1" on Sunday and maybe .5" on Monday. However Mr. NOAA has been known to be highly inaccurate.

Of course I might have to mow the first time with the flail on the real tractor. The garden tractor mower really doesn't like tall grass.

Good morning Cafe. Brought another pot of coffee and some cheese cake to share.

Usually, May is a rather rainy

Yes! Sweet Marias picks up the coffee and ships it to oakland. They have a container on the way to Houston now.

The trailer was parked next to where the car is shown here when in started rolling down the driveway and stopped near the pen.

History....

The wool for those Aran sweaters (jumpers) was usually spun "in the grease," ie, not washing the wool before spinning, so there was all the lanoline still in it. This helped make the sweaters waterproof.

The patterns used in Aran sweaters have meaning too. The cables signifies the rope used on the ships. One stitch called "trinity" had a religious meaning. Those are all I can remember right now.

Sometimes the pattern of the sweater was all they had to identify the sailor who died and washed up on shore.

Knitting Aran sweaters is one of my ideas of fun. Yeah, I'm that kind of weird. :)
I have two Arran sweaters. Each has a different pattern. I did know what each pattern is but I've forgotton now. They both smell of lanolin despite being washed. Can't beat them for comfort and warmth.
