BYC Café

Good morning! We made a dent in the chaos for SIL yesterday. Now she has her craft room back and stairs are safer and things are cleaner. Alexa is being set up so mainly if she falls, she can holler for help. We are getting cat litter auto delivered and hopefully a cleaning person to come once a week. That part is not my item to set up. There is just stuff, knickknacks, seasonal decor out the wazoo, drawers of candles, just an amazing amount of STUFF! I was like, WHY? Her kids are wanting to downsize the amount of STUFF so when the time comes to move to a single level, probably this coming warm season, it won't be so overwhelming.
Can someone say, "Bingo prizes?"

Now that DH is retired, he is more interested in helping with house cleaning. It will take a long (long-long) time to get rid of all the junk. Most of which we haven't seen/touched in 20 years.

Building in some storage would help. A couple of pantries for food and kitchen stuff. Shelves for books. More shelves for books. What the heck, another shelf or two for books.

And then, Get. Rid. Of. All. The. JUNK!!!

Maybe if I say we have to get that done before he builds the darkroom in the basement, it'll actually happen...

"Household Stuff" - when my in laws died within six months of one another, the Princess and I were tasked with clearing their house. (They rented from a sister of my FIL.) It took over a week to toss out/donate clothing and junk, and then we had an auctioneer come to get rid of the rest. When I went to tell the Princess's aunt that the house had been emptied, she said, "I don't know why you rushed to get it done." My reply, "Because you demanded that we do so." She had been very unpleasant, and we never had contact with her after that. We pledged to never burden our kids with such a mess.

Hi Everyone. I'm new to the site and being a chicken mama. My best friend and I just plunged right in and started with 16. I canceled an order of 10 from TSC , but they showed up anyway... lol jokes on us because I ordered 6 from another hatchery where I could mix. They both showed up within a week of each other. Two failed to thrive so now I have 14 about 7-8 wks. I have to admit I'm crazy about them. Sorry to say I have 3 Cockrell and can only keep one. For the record, I live in northwest Florida and I'm retired. Live in an rv in my best friends yard. 💕 love it here. We have a good time. Enough for now, but I'm glad you started this cafe.
Hello @BirdLvr56 :frow

Well I hauled up all of the Christmas decorations. And after dragging that artificial tree in the storage bag up the stairs I now know that a future career in a mob cleanup crew is not in the cards for me. That thing was as heavy as a corpse and it nearly killed me hauling it up!
Is there something you need to tell us DL, what with the body bag bits and the more recent reference to corpse lifting?

I did a junk clear out when I moved from Spain. Sometimes I think they got the pallets mixed up.:p
