I got a call from the Hearth when I was at work this morning and in a nutshell, they're kicking DH out because he's too far declined to meet their standards so he has to get moved into a nursing home.

Oh Tonya, I am so sorry. Constant upheaval. I hope he can get into the facility you prefer. REALLY hope.

Obviously, I missed a lot of what was and is going on here at the Cafe during the last few months.

But my DH suffered a stroke at the end of September which kept me busy on overdrive with no time left for BYC or similar. He is just recently back at home and we are still busy readjusting our home for the new requirements and getting used to our new routine including lots of special stroke rehab training etc.

to you as well. How is DH doing? How severe are the effects of the stroke and do the doctors expect them to diminish?

Son and his family + 1 just left - the silence is deafening. Granddaughter's dog, Preston, is really starting to warm up to me.

The constant acquisition of the 'latest and greatest'(keeping up with the jones') mentality has always annoyed/disgusted me, the older I get the more it bothers me, I choose not to run that race....and was/am often vilified because of it.
Just because things can be done and it's 'cool' doesn't mean they should be done.

Ditto! As someone said, "Don't buy crap you don't need to impress people you don't like." (Clean version.)

Some after the storm rejoicing...
.....got cleaned up and out of here for books, bonbons, and general groceries.
Sunshiney drive topped off with deli fried chicken and a side of baked beans
Sun, wind, and 40°F temps are making quick work of the snow drifts hanging off the sheds.

there is one hen might be thinking about laying. She was moaning and groaning going in and out of the nests while I was cleaning.

She did lay!! WooooHooooo!!!

Afternoon Cafe, I was happy I had 4 yesterday !
I took the tops off the tubs set all four on the ground.
DH kept forgetting the bird blocks they could not get in them.

I'm pretty sure I have another hen laying! I'm only getting an egg every other day since the blizzard hit. I'm thinking there will be more in the coming days, as it's going to be in the 40s for a week.
