BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I passed out yesterday around 2 and didn't wake up until 5!! I managed to get my load of mulch, mow the lawn and load a cabinet I need to get finished on the sides but that's it. I was afraid that long nap would affect my sleep last night. It didn't. I guess I needed it.
You deserve a good nap, always working on something!

Good Morning Cafe! Coffee is hot and ready for early morning risers like me. You are even welcome to join me on my patio in the crisp early morning 43 here currently but going to get to 70.
My profile pic is of my youngest pup, Savage 11 months old don't know his breed though, have been told he is Great Dane and Cane Corso MIX.
@CapricornFarm I don't use pesticides on the weeds at my house but I use a cheap brand of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, spray on leaves til it's dripping before the sun hits it then the rays of sunshine will burn it because of the acid in the vinegar. I also live in Virginia.

Good morning @cow whisperer and thanks for the much needed coffee! :frow

Do you have more pictures of Savage for us? We'd love to see them.

@DobieLover. You remind me of the guy in this ad I love very much.
It's the third/last ad in this video where he so lovingly is building a perfect little globe of his own:

I'm that second guy. Only I hit my thumb instead of the head of the nail!

Good morning Cafe and thanks for the coffee. I've been up since 4:00 but refused to get out of bed. I think Piper is coming into heat. I can't believe she has matured that much already.
She is doing very well on her recalls. She's no Bella but I'm not a nervous wreck having her off leash any longer. I didn't want to put the collar on her until she was full grown but she needs it now to understand that no matter how far away she is, she still has to listen to me. This is immediately after I called her in.

Was this with or without using the collar?
She has Bella's collar on in that video. You can see it all looped back and forth to contain the huge amount of excess length. I didn't have to use the collar in the video. She came to me immediately when I called her. I have to use it less and less each session. She is also learning that the "beep" warning is quickly followed by a correction so she reacts immediately when I hit the beep button.
I don't want to have to warn her either. But it helps in the training. I will issue a single command and if it is not immediately obeyed, she gets the beep then a pop if she doesn't break loose and head my way.
The pop makes her jump up as if startled. That's it. I had to climb up higher on the control setting than I thought I would. She responds best to 3.5. Bella was responding at 2 but I don't need to use the collar on her unless she goes into crazy mode playing with her friends and starts rolling them. It's been many months since Bella even needed a beep warning.
