BYC Café

Bella caught a BIG woodchuck today. It was not a clean kill. It bit up her lower jaw but she would not relent. In the end she finally killed it but it was not pretty for any involved. I took her straight back to the car and home to clean her jaw and disinfect it. Piper started the work for me. She's very intent on nursing. She's been licking at a little cut on my leg too.

Speaking of the little turd... she has learned how to pull open the garbage pullout cabinet. And is tall enough to pull and tear at the garbage bag and reach stuff at the top. So I installed a magnetic catch to the cabinet. It takes a bit of a jerk to get it to open now. That ought to fix her little red wagon.

I gained a Rhode Island Red cockerel from as local member.
Meet Pistol Pete.

They are big animals...and kinda squishy, probably hard to get a grip on.

Blood lust.
Makes me think of one of the alligator hunters dog, always licks up the gunshot blood.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I must get a picture of Digit standing next to his hatch mother. He towers over her. He is still hanging around with her, still peeping. He will be 10 weeks old on Tuesday. His 2 sisters (I'm going to keep calling that dark one a pullet until proven cockerel) are 6 weeks old today. They are never around their mother and have been completely on their own for at least a week. All three are doing great.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! 61F atm with more rain supposed to make an appearance later on. We didn't get any yesterday, but some folks got slammed.
DS@ and family met us for gyros and bowling. That was a fun time!
I hope your new rooster works in to the flock nicely, Penny!
DL, I hope Bella recovers from her adventure quickly.
There is more wood splitting to be done! Grab a cup of "Joe" and come on over!
