Turns out we were both working at Sanmina (aka - San Quentin) at the same time. Both started in early 2013. He made it 9 months. I made it 2 years and 4 months.

White pine and poplar. Junk.

I have a poplar that broke over than I've cut for firewood, got 2 runs from it. Not the best but OK for "shoulder season". I won't put pine in my woodstove unless there is no other source of heat including the electric wall oven.

Hello, Cafe’!
Just thought I’d let you all know that DH and I drove to Homer today. Had a nice day despite the fog and drizzle. We drove up to ‘Al’s’ church, but there wasn’t anyone around so we didn’t get out of the truck. Al’s house is within view of the church - just a short walk. Part of me really wanted to go knock on the door, but I am kind of a private person myself, and I’m not sure how I’d feel about someone I met 4 years ago showing up unannounced on my doorstep, so I decided to respect their privacy.

Great idea! You’re right - it never occurred to me. I just tried a member search for Alaskan, and they no longer listed here.

Someone was asking about them a week or two ago, I looked at their message list and they hadn't posted since January of 23.
