Happy hunting buddy.

This guy is the largest frog that calls my pond home. And he's never nearly jumped in my face when I'm pruning so I like him.

He's just as welcome as the frogs. He has a job to do too and they don't bother me a bit.
One of his 'jobs' is to eat frogs and fish.

I spotted a snake hanging around the pond like that and was fascinated, came out a few hours later to find it with a fish in it's mouth. grabbed it by the tail and it let go of the fish, I tossed it in the filter pit and it bit me when I tried to grab it.

Good Afternoon, Cafe’!

It’s 97 out there today. I think I’ll have one of those frozen, sugar-laden, flavored “coffee” drinks that don’t really taste like coffee.

My poor chickens are on lockdown. It was bound to happen. When I fed them scraps yesterday, I noticed that there didn’t appear to be as many as there should be, so I counted last night when I locked them up. I have 7 missing from the old girl/this year’s baby coop (but none of the roosters, of course) and one from last year’s pullet coop. I’m sure it’s the coyotes. The other night, Ruger was out in the field not far from the coops baying, and a coyote was yapping back at him. The coyote sounded closer than the dog. It’s all tall grass out there, so I couldn’t see either of them. We have coyote hunts out here in our area during the winter. We highly encourage the neighbors who participate to come on our property to hunt.

I candled 4 of the 6 eggs my broody is sitting on. They all had good, clear veins so I didn’t bother with the last two. She was getting testy.
