No age. The temp was minus 20°

Then and now. 50 years difference.
Well, I'm pushing 55 and still much prefer the cold over the heat. I HATE hot weather. I have been known to trot down to the mailbox or take the dogs out on the deck in bare feet with snow on the ground.

I might go get the mail in flip flops but my bare feet will not touch snow for long.... Even My Lhaso Apso hated just wet grass.... In fact she didn't like tinkling on grass. She would go out on the pavement before she would hunt a spot on the grass. She was one of a kind I think. Now Polly the Black and Tan Coon Hound loved cold weather and snow didn't keep her from running with the kids. She slept in a barn out of the wind but 0° cold never fazed her.

I’m just a bit older than you, and still go barefoot every chance I get. I have also been known to go barefoot in the snow. My uncle used to call me the family hillbilly “Temperature hits 50 and off of her shoes.”

I am also the kind of person who prefers cold over heat! And my dog , an Aussie mix, loves snow, poor thing, only got to have 1 real winter in her 6 years, I think she was 3 when she first got her real snow 😮 the chickens hate it, she loved it, running around, even bathing in it 😂 I remember when I had my doberman pinscher, whenever the kids had built a snowman, she took bites out of him, I was always mad, but she loved the taste of snow…

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

I feel much better. Finally. But now I'm sleeping longer into the morning. I need to finish cleaning out the pond, pruning the lilies and doing some of the winterization. I'd also like to get started on the garage cleanout. But I need to go slow so I don't set myself back.

Good morning. Yes don't do what I would do and try to make up for lost time and then lose more time.

The view from my deer stand

IMG_4466.jpeg

I haven’t seen any deer close to my stand, but I did see a few farther out. Forgot my binoculars, so don’t know if they had antlers or not.

However, I did get to watch and hear the pheasants wake up. And I had a hawk land on top of my stand (that has a metal roof, so it was LOUD). It hung out up there for a good half hour. I couldn’t figure out what was up there, it was so noisy! Then it took off from right above my window, so I got a close up of its underside. I’m glad it didn’t decide to come in the window. I’ve had sparrows do that in the past. Sitting here, observing nature really is the best part of deer hunting. The venison is a bonus.
