Afternoon all! I apologize for being quiet the last couple of weeks a bout of depression hit me seeing how I'm still stunned over the passing of my Uncle on Nov 8th.
A couple weeks ago I did make HOMEMADE Vanilla Ice Cream and nope I don't have an Ice Cream Maker machine and yes FH was very surprised I did that too!

The stack of Save the Date cards that went out on in Monday mail, still have a smaller stack to go out but need to get more stamps on Fri then load up on stamps before the New Year seeing how postage is going up again. I still remember when stamps was $0.35 (early 1990's).

I well remember 8 cent first class stamps. And the cents sign on the keyboard.

So now I have a plumbing "emergency". When I was showering last night, I heard the toilet going "glug, glug" like something was trying to escape the bowl. I immediately knew what was going on and shut off the water in my shower.

When I originally framed out the walls for the bathroom and ran the vents up to the attic, I went with an AAV (air admittance valve) instead of penetrating my roof on the front of the house or running a pipe to the other side of the attic and tying into the main stack.

I also did blown-in insulation in the attic. I had taped a bag over the vent when I blew in the insulation to keep the fibers out of the fans of the vent and took the bag off after the dust settled.

I still think some dust may have gotten in there and the weather has gotten colder. I think the water vapor that goes up the stacks is freezing in the vent and preventing it from easily pulling open when water goes down the drain.

To get it to open, I flushed the toilet in the original bathroom which is downstream of my bathroom and I heard the water whoosh out of the toilet and shower drain in my bathroom. Back in business. For now.

I plan to cut into the axillary stack (that runs through the little closet in the bathroom) that is capped by the current AAV, install a T with a 90° elbow attached then install a second AAV on top of the elbow.

HTG and I have been texting quite a lot and he's coming over more often.
I used to appreciate bouncing my ideas off dad or DH but I can't do that anymore.

So I bounced my idea off HTG instead. He thought my logic was sound so I told him, "then I guess I better cut the pipe".

After the first cut I needed C to hold the other side of the pipe rigid for me while I made the second cut.

I texted HTG, "I just had to ask C to hold my pipe. That was awkward".

To which he replied "Dang. I knew I should have come over".

I almost fell on the floor laughing!

Good morning Café. Coffee is ready.
We have a light dusting of snow and it's still softly falling. It's quite peaceful out now. I'm going to enjoy it for a while before I have to go to work. Yesterday was quite chaotic and I expect more of the same today.
