I was amazed that they all stayed outside yesterday, all day,
You have a pretty well weather proofed run, yes?
Probably about the same temp there as inside the coop?

Glad my coop is big as I won't get the run cleared for another day or two. Just shoveled ~6" off the coop path....
....and it's still coming down like mad. SMH.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee!
The temps have now reached double digits on the plus side of zero!
The breezes are breezing! The snow is not worth shoveling because of the winds, er breezes...
MORF was not a happy camper last evening so I need to call him in a bit and make sure he is able to go to the appt. Sigh...

They are hardy little buggers. It had warmed up to 1F when I went out to feed them. All mine were off the roosts and in the run or wadding around in the thick pine shavings.

They did drink an awful lot of water yesterday so that's good. I'll have to scrub and fill it again today. I have to fill it inside as all the frost-free spigots still freeze at the handle so you can't open them.

Yes. The south, west, and north sides are pretty much covered. The east side is in the lee of the garage, and most of it is covered up to about 15" (chicken height). Some snow has blown in on that side, and there's a dusting on the ground.

Inside the coop it feels... not warm, but warmer than outside. No real breeze to speak of. I have the people door shut, but the pop door open.

They were staying inside until after noon, then for some reason decided to come out. I gave them some sunflower seeds as a treat, scattered around the run. There is no point in making mash, as it'll freeze solid before they can eat it all.

Over here I have the opposite, it is so hot, my chickens hide in the shade, drink so much water that they do not poop, but blasted out liquid, I can hear that blasted sound. So messy and the flies are loving it. I soaked their feed the night before so that it is easier to eat in this hot weather. I give them bananas before bed time to put back the potassium they lose from that blasted liquid poops.
