Hello, late to the party - just got back from Annapolis. It was our son's 60th birthday. How did that happen? Thanks for the coffee. It's still good.

Chilly, and still breezy. I cooked a turkey that I bought back when they were on sale. The wrapper said, 9.5% water/salt/sugar/etc. And they weren't kidding! Holy smokes there was a lot of liquid in the pan! Lots of gravy and turkey left over. I'll need to make some more mashed potatoes.

I survived the first truckload of firewood cutting of the season. It actually was not that bad and I am not sore, but there are a couple of muscles that know something different happened. We will be back at it today while the sun shines. They are saying "snow, maybe significant" for the weekend.

@Sally PB I had been wondering the same thing. She hasn't been on the site for a week. I know she occasionally has internet issues so I'm hoping that is all it is.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee!
It is pretty quiet here at the ole Cafe, that is for sure.
The second load of hardwood is home, still in the truck, but home.
We spent the afternoon working on getting a chipper hooked up and running on the PTO of a tractor at the ranch. The chipper has been sitting there for a few years so things/ thangs/ and all the little doohickies were very uncooperative and need grease. They must not use the PTO very much either, but we got it going and ran some branches through it. There were a lot of wasp nests in the thing!
That could have been something to write home about if it were later on in the season! So, we know what we are doing now and should be able to get the branches cleaned up next go-round.
I was supposed to be doing another surgery pick-up run for a different friend but it got moved to a later date, so now today is a rest and storm prep day.
